1 oz gin (we used Bombay Sapphire)
1 oz simple syrup (homemade)
3/4 oz fresh squeezed lemon juice
Fine champagne (in a pinch you can use Prosecco)
Combine first three ingredients in a metal martini shaker with ice. Shake vigorously. Pour in a champagne flute. Top with champagne.
The French 75 is a refreshing combination of tart and sweet. As as rule, I love champagne cocktails and this one is amazing. I’m so glad I tried it and it helped me turn the page on gin. I didn’t garnish it with a cherry but it would add a splash of color. This would make a great brunch drink or an elegant aperitif. Enjoy!
