Painting With a Twist

Rochelle Poses

I was recently invited to a press event at Painting with a Twist, which is located at 208 W Oak St in Denton Texas. This cool new business is described as the original “Paint and Sip” franchise. They offer many painting events each month and encourage participants to bring wine and snacks to consume during their two and three hour classes.  Having toured the facility during their grand opening, I was itching to get back over their and try to paint.

Work in progressUp until the day I stepped foot in their ultra cool studio space, I had never picked up a paint brush.  I was certain that my work would end up looking like something a kindergartener had finger painted.  I was a bit nervous, but the wine helped considerably in calming my jangled nerves.

Prior to beginning the class, Tori Batey, Managing Studio Partner, introduced herself and began laying the foundations for what would be an amazing evening.  The class was led by Scott, who was a self proclaimed comedic genius and possibly your soul mate. He was assisted by lovely and talented Rochelle.Scott and Rochelle

Any anxiety I might have had coming into this class, quickly evaporated as the jokes began to fly.  The instruction was clear, concise and laid back. Scott broke the process down into simplistic steps, that made it extremely easy to follow. Before I knew what happened, my canvas was covered with a beautiful scene that actually did not suck!  Now, I am never going to be a Monet or Manet, but what I did come away with was a great first painting and a lot of fantastic memories.  I would highly recommend that you give this place a try.  It was a wonderful way to spend a few hours.

Finished product Cheers,
